Navy Capt. John Deehr, commanding officer, USS Peleliu, and Ensign Brandley Sinoc, ship’s bos’n, cut a cake to commemorate the half-way point of the 15th MEU and Peleliu Amphibious Ready Group deployment, Jan. 17. To celebrate the event, the ship’s food services division made a special meal for the embarked service members that included steak, king crab legs and cake. The 15th MEU is deployed as part of the Peleliu ARG as a U.S. Central Command theater reserve force, providing support for maritime security operations and theater security cooperation efforts in the U.S. 5th Fleet area of responsibility.
