U.S. Marine Lance Cpl. Trent Martin does a pull-up to honor fallen service members during physical training aboard the USS Rushmore (LSD 47) at sea in the Pacific Ocean, May 25, 2015. Martin is an automatic rifleman with Kilo Compnay, Battalion Landing Team 3rd Battalion, 1st Marine Regiment, 15th Marine Expeditionary Unit. In honor of Memorial Day, Marines with BLT 3/1 ran the ‘Memorial Day Murph’ challenge. The physical fitness event is named after Medal of Honor recipient U.S. Navy Lt. Michael P. Murphy. The challenge developed from Murphy’s daily work out routine, which consisted of a one-mile run, 100 pull-ups, 200 push-ups, 300 squats, and finishing with another one-mile run.
