ARTA BEACH, Djibouti (Sept. 28, 2015) U.S. Marine 1st Sgt. Garett Kirkby balances on a cable obstacle during a desert survival course alongside the French 5th Overseas Combined Arms Regiment (RIAOM). Kirkby is the company 1st Sgt. of Delta Company, 1st Light Armored Reconnaissance Detachment, Battalion Landing Team 3rd Battalion, 1st Marine Regiment, 15th Marine Expeditionary Unit. Elements of the 15th MEU are training with the 5th RIAOM in Djibouti in order to improve interoperability between the MEU and the French military. (U.S. Marine Corps photo by Sgt. Steve H.
