ABOARD USS PELELIU (LHA-5), (Sept. 29, 2008)- A MH-60S Seahawk helicopter prepares to take off from the flight deck of USS Peleliu during a vertical replenishment, Sept. 29. Vertical replenishments are designed to resupply a Peleliu using helicopters to transport supplies from one ship to another.::r::::n::The Camp Pendleton, Calif., based 15th MEU is embarked aboard USS Peleliu and is comprised of approximately 2,200 Marines and Sailors and is a forward deployed force in readiness capable of conducting numerous operations, such as Non-Combatant Evacuation Operations, Humanitarian Assistance Operations and range of amphibious missions. The MEU is currently deployed aboard USS Peleliu (LHA-5), USS Dubuque (LPD-8) and USS Pearl Harbor (LSD-52). (Official USMC photo by Cpl Stephen Holt)::r::::n::
