Colonel Scott D. Campbell, commanding officer, 15th Marine Expeditionary Unit, addresses local community business leaders at Camp Pendleton’s Red Beach training area during a VIP visit, Jan. 27. Campbell emphasized the importance of MEUs by discussing some of the accomplishments of recently deployed MEUs and the support the MEUs are capable of providing during a crisis. “We’re America’s away team,” he said. He also talked about the role of the Navy and Camp Pendleton’s part in offering a training environment for his unit. The 15th MEU is currently training for a deployment scheduled for this fall.
