Oct 5, 2012
Petty Officer 3rd Class, Adam E. Leat, corpsman, Headquarters and Support Company, Battalion Landing Team 3/5, 15th Marine Expeditionary Unit, measures the blood pressure of Cpl. Anthony S. Banda, a motor transportation operator from the same unit, in the USS Rushmore’s medical department, Oct. 3. Although it’s much smaller than the Peleliu Amphibious Ready Group’s flag ship, the USS Peleliu, the medical and dental departments aboard the Rushmore are capable of preventing and treating illnesses and minor injuries, cleaning teeth and removing cavities, training and educating Marines and sailors and preparing for the rapid treatment of combat casualties. Leat, 25, is from Fresno, Calif., and Banda, 22, is from Yuma, Ariz.
