MARINES, SAILORS BACK HOME SAFELY

Lt. Col. John Field said he has been flying CH-46E Sea Knight helicopters since 1993.  Upon their return from deployment Monday afternoon, the Sea Knights' final deployment, he called the occasion a huge turning point for Marine aviation. It will also be a turning point for Field, who admitted he's not sure what - or if - he'll be flying next.

Marines and sailors from Marine Medium Helicopter Squadron 364 touched down on Camp Pendleton Monday. They served in the 15th Marine Expeditionary Unit as it deployed to the Pacific and Middle East.

A happy homecoming at Camp Pendleton Monday for members of the 15th Marine Expeditionary Unit.  They are returning home from an eight month deployment in the Western Pacific and the Middle East. The tour include stops in Thailand, Bali, Australia, and Hong Kong.

Families welcomed home about 200 Marines to MCAS Yuma Monday afternoon in an emotional homecoming. The Marines from VMA-311 had been at sea for about eight months.

Over 150 Marine Attack Squadron 311 Marines returned May 13 to Marine Corps Air Station Yuma after a six month deployment aboard the USS Peleliu in support of the 15th Marine Expeditionary Unit. The Tomcats deployed with AV-8B Harriers in support of the 15th MEUs flexible sea-based Marine Air Ground Task Force capable of conducting amphibious Operations, crisis response and limited contingency operations.

Marine Sgt. Ryan T. Sotelo was awarded the Silver Star on Thursday for his actions during a 2010 battle in Afghanistan, the U.S. Marine Corps announced. It was Thanksgiving Day when Sotelo’s squad was bombarded with machinegun and small arms fire in after being ambushed in an open field.
