Aussies Aboard: Three Australian Soldiers Deploy with the 15th MEU

Three soldiers from the Australian Defense Force recently served in the most unique positions of their careers as key members of the 15th Marine Expeditionary Unit. Australian Army Maj. Jack Jones, Maj. George Lynn, and Maj. Rhys “Casper” Davies had the rare opportunity to deploy with “America’s Vanguard Force” to the Indo-Pacific region – all thanks to the Marine Corps Personnel Exchange Program.

First In, Last Out: 15th MEU Celebrates the Marine Corps Birthday Twice

INTERNATIONAL DATE LINE – On Nov. 10, 2024, there was only one Marine Corps unit that had the privilege to recognize itself as the first unit in the world to celebrate the Marine Corps birthday – the 15th Marine Expeditionary Unit – and also the very last unit in the world that day.

Elements of the 15th Marine Expeditionary concluded more than a month of training in South Korea Aug. 6 to Sept. 7, including participation in Exercise Ssang Yong 24, which featured the first amphibious assault using Amphibious Combat Vehicles during their inaugural deployment.
